UDHAMPUR, Nov 3: MLA Ramnagar R S Pathania today demanded that Mansar be developed as a State of art tourism destination and epicentre of Jammu Tourism Circuit.
While addressing largely attended Public darbars at Channi-Mansar and Bhatti-Barigarh, Pathania said that present Government is committed to develop Jammu as an Independent tourism hub and keeping in view the historical, cultural and mythological significance of ‘Mansar’ and sentiments attached there with, he demand Mansar be nurtured as ‘Epicentre’ of Jammu tourist circuit.
On the occasion, the MLA announced for setting up of a 100 bedded hostel at Mansar so as to provide affordable accommodation for visiting tourists, students and others. He said that development works worth more than Rs 20 crore are in offing around Mansar lake which include construction of a Tourist Information Centre, development of water sports, modern parking, sewerage treatment plant construction of modern gender based toilet complex, modern filtration plant and solar lighting for Surinsar and Mansar.
Mr. Pathania was accompanied by CEO Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority Vikas Gupta, Tehsildar Majalta, Ved Parkash, Assistant Director Handicrafts and other officers of Rural Development Department, PWD, PHE, Civil and Mechanical wings, Agriculture, Horticulture Department, PMGSY, Handicrafts, Social Welfare Forests, Social Forestry and various other departments.
Later Mr. Pathania threw open a camp for registration of locals artisans, weavers, wood craftsman, embroiders organized by Department of Handicrafts, under the Union Ministry of Textiles so as to provide them a market and develop entrepreneurial skills and attitude.
