Manohar tours Kandi areas of Billawar

KATHUA, Aug 23: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives(Independent Charge) & MOS for Forests and Ecology Dr Manohar Lal Sharma toured kandi areas of Billawar Assembly constituency and dedicated one tubewell, recreational park and water harvesting structure to the people.
During his tour, Dr Sharma inaugurated newly constructed tubewell at Tandayi which has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.10 crore.
He said that Government has initiated  various steps to mitigate the water scarcity in kandi areas.
He said recharging of water ponds and Khuls can further improve the water scenario of the kandi areas. He appealed to the people to adopt micro models of watershed and rain water harvesting for optimum use of available water.
He also inaugurated a recreational park at Baba Ugardev Sthan Tadyari in Hiranagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sharma said the recreational park which came up at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakh is an effort of the Government to facilitate the pilgrims as well as the locals of the area.
The minister assured people that for further beautification of the park, installing of sitting benches, high mast lights, langar shed and re charging of adjoining water pond will be taken up shortly.
In last leg of his tour, Dr Sharma visited Daabi area of Dinga Amb and inaugurated Water Harvesting Structure constructed by Soil Conservation department which has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 24.70 lakh under Pilot Scheme funded by Government of India.
The Minister also met various deputations and listened  to people’s grievances and passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for their redressal.
