JAMMU, May 26: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives (IC), Finance & Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, today laid foundation stone of a Bather to Najote road.
On its completion, the road would benefit over 5000 population of Bather, Juthana, Malandi, Pathsole & Najote habitations of tehsil Billawar.
The 4.5 km road will be constructed at an estimated cost of 4.5 crore. The road work will be executed by PWD (R&B) under Bad Pocket Initiative Scheme.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to upgrade & strengthen the road connectivity in the State, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said the Government was working over night to develop basic infrastructure including road and bridges to give flip to promote trade and commerce in far off and hilly areas of the state.
Dr Sharma during his tour also convened public grievance camps at hilly habitation of Jutha in Bather panchayat & Mandher habitation of Lahri panchayats.
At Jutha, people of different villages apprised the minister about their problems and difficulties which were mainly related to posting of required staff in schools, provision for drinking water, up-gradation of school, construction of water tank & Veterinary dispensary for the area.
The Najote deputation demanded electric poles. Sarpanch Bather demanded blacktopping of Tilla- Bather road, two hand pumps, water scarcity in ward 4 & 6, crates and funds for the construction of four wall for play ground.
He also listened to the problems of the people at Mandher where people accorded warm welcome to the Minister.
The representatives of Mandher demanded dispensary at Ward No 3, Anganwadi centre, repair of local foot bridge, kerosene oil depot for Ward 3, primary school for Ward 6 and adequate drinking water in the Mandher area. Koug deputation demanded road connectivity, water supply scheme, and repair of hand pumps.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the people’s problems and assured that all the genuine demands will be taken up on priority basis.
Dr Sharma passed instructions to the XEn PHE to accelerate the work on the water supply schemes of Sukrala, Koug to ensure early completion. He directed PHE to make estimates of water tank for Jutha for which funds will be allocated under CDF. He passed instructions to the PHE department to ensure supply of drinking water through water tanks to the areas facing water scarcity. He also directed AEE PDD to provide 70 electric poles to Juthah, Najote and adjoining areas to ensure 100 percent electrification in the area.
The Minister also directed the Irrigation Department to complete the work on channelising of irrigation canal in Bather Panchayat.
Dr Shama also announced Rs 3 lakh for Bather Panchayat, one lakh each for Mandher and Jutha for the development works under Constituency Development Fund.
