Mankotia highlights post-flood restoration efforts in Chenani Ghordi

UDHAMPUR, Oct 14: MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia today highlighted the restoration efforts after the extensive damage caused by the recent heavy rains and floods across his Assembly constituency Chenani-Ghordi.
Talking to media persons, here today, the MLA said that the constituency has been among the worst affected areas, with maximum damage to roads, major bridges, and footbridges, PDD poles and water supply pipelines causing severe inconvenience to the public.
Mankotia informed that due to the road blockages & repeated heavy landslides at multiple locations, many minibuses, autos, and private vehicles remained stranded at several locations, making transportation extremely difficult for local residents. Even as the power supply has been largely restored, some areas are still awaiting restoration, and similar challenges remain with drinking water supply, where work is actively ongoing, he added.
Emphasizing the need for a long-term solution, Mankotia said that adequate funds are required to permanently reopen and rebuild damaged roads. He expressed hope that the necessary sanctions for additional funds will be approved soon to expedite the development work.
MLA Mankotia further announced that the bidding process for the Salmey Bridge has been successfully completed, and the work on the bridge will commence shortly which will benefit large number of population. He said that this project will bring significant relief and improved connectivity to the region.
