UDHAMPUR, Dec 11: Demanding release of MGNREGA payments to poor people, former MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia today staged a protest demonstration against J&K Government for non-release of MGNREGA funds.
Leading the protest demonstration outside Deputy Commissioner Office here, Mankotia said, to provide employment in every village, the Government under MGNREGA provided an opportunity under which people were promised 100 days of permanent employment but the poor people were not paid their MGNREGA wages for the last five years.
Mankotia said if MGNREGA liability is not released to the poor people soon, then he will start protest in New Delhi in this regard.
He urged upon the government to release MGNREGA liability at the earliest.
BDC Jaganoo, Sanjit Sharma; Councilors, Samnik Bhasin and Jagdish Kumar; Jagdev Singh Jagga, Amarnath Mehra, Sarpanch, Ashok Kumar and others were also present on the occasion.
