DODA, Aug 19: Apni Party provincial president and former Minister, Manjit Singh today demanded full restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Manjit Singh was chairing one day worker’s meeting in Doda District, which was held to discuss future course of action to press for the Statehood demand in Chenab Valley.
The meeting was organised by district president, Doda, Adil Wani.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjit Singh said that the Statehood restoration will empower Jammu and Kashmir and the people of the erstwhile State, where unemployment has increased up to unprecedented manners.
He said, “The Apni Party wants that the J&K get full statehood and the same demand is the core issue of the Party and it is committed to get it fulfilled. The president of the Party, Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari personally took initiative and ensured that the jobs and land rights were reserved for the locals. Hence, his efforts were successful.”
Singh also expressed concern over why the NC, PDP and Congress Party remained silent all these years, and suddenly started demanding Statehood, besides launching a signature campaign in this regard.
“The signature campaign and the statehood rhetoric adopted by the NC to divert the attention of the people from the failures of the Government as it failed to fulfill the promises it made with the people during the assembly election campaigns,” he added.
Singh also intensified door to door campaign and appealed the people to extend support to the demand of Statehood restoration.
Youth provincial president, Vishal Nariana and district president, Doda, Adil Wani also addressed the party workers.
Among others who attended the meeting included Bodh Raj Bhagat, Mashood Mattoo, Yasir Zaffar Butt, Abdul Latief Choudhary, Mohd Ashraf Lone, Junaid Khursheed, Niaz Ahmed, Ghulam Nabi Khandey, Imtiaz Ahmed, Sheikh Basharat, Parvez Ahmed Tantary, Mohd Farooq Butt and others.
