VIJAYPUR, Dec 30: Apni Party Provincial president for Jammu, and former minister, Manjit Singh has condemned the administrative failure in providing needed relief and compensation to the flood affected families in Parmandal Block of Vijaypur Sub Division in Samba District.
Addressing a meeting here at village Gurgani, Parmandal, the former minister expressed shock over silence of administration with regard to the devastating effect in the lives of the people who have lost their property.
The people complained that they have lost their properties, agricultural land and soil erosion have happened during the recent flash floods that hit the Jammu region adversely.
Instead of providing adequate compensation, they claimed that the administration turned blind eyes.
Hearing them patiently, the former Minister expressed his surprise how concerned departments forget the general masses who lost their properties, and land to the floods.
He demanded that the Govt should take action against the officials who neglected the people suffering from the floods, and did not provide them relief.
He also demanded basic amenities for the people in these rural areas of Parmandal with upgradation of the lanes, drains, proper clean drinking water, 24/7 electricity supply, seed banks (Govt depot), and sanitization.
Manjit also raised his concern over blocked roads with the debris and boulders in Pacholi, Duan and other areas (Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribes Bastis) in Parmandal Block.
“Five months have passed to the closure of these roads and the Block level officials, and Roads and Building / PWD Department has remained silent over the suffering of the people with inaction,” former Minister said.
The meeting was organized by Chano Ram, Gardhari Lal whereas, Sanjay Kumar, Baldev Singh, and others were also present on the occasion.
