SAMBA, Aug 23: Apni Party, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh has expressed serious concern over underdevelopment and negligence of residential colonies of Schedule Tribes.
The Apni Party leaders led by former minister, Manjit Singh and Scheduled Tribe Wing, President, Saleem Choudhary and others visited Tribal Basti and met them.
During their interaction with the tribal community, the Apni Party leaders were apprised about various issues being faced by the nomads.
“The ST community suffered because they were exploited politically and development was never provided to them. The lanes, drains, clean drinking water, electricity, school education, and cleanliness are among the main issues being confronted by the community for decades,” said Manjit Singh.
Meanwhile, many prominent people from the Tribal Community also joined the Apni Party on the occasion.
Welcoming the newcomers into the Party, he said that the underdevelopment for nomads has become a routine and they have developed hopelessness. “The authorities do not listen to them and their suffering continues,” he said.
He said that the issues faced by the Tribals can be resolved when the administration works without discrimination.
“It presents a bad image of the departments when one looks at the situation in their colonies as there is hardly any developmental works, supply of water, electricity, education department,” he added.
He said that the negligence of the community should not continue. “The Government must look into it and review the developmental situation of the tribal colonies,” he further said.
Speaking on the occasion, ST Wing President, Saleem Choudhary said that he will highlight the issues of the tribal community before the administration for their early redressal.
Choudhary said that the developmental, health and education related issues are crucial for the community and they need an urgent attention of the Government.
