SAMBA, Apr 27: Former Minister and Apni Party, provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh today demanded action against Government officials delaying sanctioned distribution package to displaced persons.
In a statement to the press, a meeting of displaced persons was held at village Jerda in Samba district under the leadership of former Minister and provincial president, Apni Party for Jammu Province, Manjit Singh.
In this meeting, the participants highlighted various demands and expressed their deep concern over the delaying attitude of the officials.
He said five lakh and fifty thousand package was sanctioned by Central government per family of displaced persons. But shockingly this package was not given to all the families of DPs which is a cause of concern.
He said that the DPs have deliberately been denied their right and package being delayed for one reason or another by the officials due to unknown reasons.
He demanded action against the officials creating problems in distribution of the package to the DP families. “The deserving families should not be made to suffer more,” he warned and threatened that people will come on the roads if their demands are not accepted.
He said that the officials have harassed the DPs unnecessary and the distribution of package has been delayed for years together.
He appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to fix responsibility on the officials responsible for delaying the package to the DPs.
