RAJOURI, June 23: The people from Manjakote area today held strong protest against the PHE authorities and blocked Jammu-Poonch highway for about an hour.
Official sources said that people from village Thil Kakora assembled on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway at around 12.30 pm near Manjakote town today and sat on dharna. They also raised barricades on the road and started protest demonstration. They alleged that PHE Department has failed to provide supply of water to the village. Local Panchayat members were leading the protest. They raised loud slogans against District Administration and PHE authorities.
The movement of vehicles came to halt on this busy highway. Later, SDPO and SHO Manjakote reached the spot and pacified the agitating people. The people then lifted dharna at around 1.30 pm and allowed movement of traffic.
