NEW DELHI, July 22: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that after a long spell of disturbance and disruptions, Manipur is finally back to peace and normalcy and to a great extent, the credit goes to the out-reach approach of the new government led by Chief Minister N. Biren Singh which took over in March this year.
Dr Jitendra Singh also spoke about a number of projects in pipeline for the State of Manipur when the State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP, Bhabananda Singh called on him.
Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that formalities have been completed to start the work on the state-of-the-art Sports University to be set up near Imphal and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is being approached for a convenient date so that the foundation stone of this historic university could be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He complimented the present State Government for having got the issues cleared as far as the land acquisition was concerned, because of which the project had got delayed by nearly two years.
The Air Clinic proposal which was mooted by the Manipur State is also in the pipeline, said Dr Jitendra Singh, and added that once it gets implemented, it will bring a huge relief to the people living in remote and inaccessible parts of the State.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Hill Area Development Programme (HADP) recently launched by the Ministry of DoNER for the North-Eastern region was also first initiated from the State of Manipur. This will help in seeking equitable growth of the areas and districts located in the valley and in the hills, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh complimented the State Government and the State BJP unit for having used their vision and discretion to ensure that the blockade which had been carrying on for several months had been withdrawn and lifted by the agitators within days of the new government having taken over. He also complimented the people of the State and the civil society for having overcome the ordeals of violence and strife to usher in an era of peace and prosperity.
