JAMMU, June 27: A criminal wanted for a security guard’s murder in Punjab’s Amritsar was arrested from Jammu Bus Stand area today.
Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha and his friend Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi were recently booked by Police Station Cantonment in Punjab’s Amritsar for their alleged involvement in the murder of a security guard, Gurinder Singh (45) of Gumtala Colony area, a police official said.
After committing the crime, he said, the accused were absconding.
“Today, one of them, Sukhwinder Singh, was arrested by a team of Police Station Bus Stand when he was trying to hire a tempo in the General Bus Stand area,” the police official said.
Post arrest, he said, the Punjab Police was alerted, and by evening, the accused was handed over to them by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“Another accused wanted in the murder case, Gurpreet Singh, is still untraced and absconding,” the police official said.
