Man killed daughter in Digiana, held from Delhi

JAMMU, Mar 7: A Madhya Pradesh (MP) resident, who was wanted for his alleged involvement in the killing of his 10-year-old daughter in Jammu’s Digiana area in 2016, has been arrested ten years later from Delhi, officials said.

Accused Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh, reportedly hit his 10-year-old daughter on her head with a baton on the suspicion that she was not his biological child, while he was working as a labourer at Digiana, they said.
The girl child received severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, officials further said.
Following the incident, police registered a case FIR number 176/2016 under Sections 302 and 342 of the RPC at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. However, the accused fled the area soon after committing the crime and remained absconding for years.
Officials said the accused had been living in southwest Delhi under a false identity as “Rajveer” to evade arrest.
They said, recently, Jammu and Kashmir Police received information about his whereabouts and requested assistance from Delhi Police.
Acting on the inputs regarding his presence in the Sanjay Colony area of Bhati Mines, a team of Delhi Police arrested him and later handed him over to Jammu and Kashmir Police for further investigation, officials said.
