RAMBAN, July 13: A young man here today allegedly jumped into river Chenab near old Jamia Masjid.
Cops at Police Station Ramban received information that an unknown person had jumped into River Chenab after which SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vikram Parihar along with other cops, SDRF and Civil QRT personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation.
However, no trace of the individual was found till last reports but a mobile phone was recovered from near the river.
Upon verification, the man who jumped into the river was identified as Idrees Ahmed Butt, 24, son of Abdul Hamid Butt, resident of Railway Chowk, Banihal.
The water flow of the River Chenab was currently at a high and dangerous level.
