JAMMU, Aug 30: An individual impersonating as Khilafwarzi Inspector was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sainik Colony area here today.
A police official said the arrest was made on the complaint of advocate Deepak Singh Baloria son of Rasal Singh Baloria of Sainik Colony Jammu, who reported at Police Station Channi Himmat that a person impersonating as municipality official took Rs 15000 from him for spot verification.
Acting promptly, he said, a police team led by incharge Police Post Sainik Colony PSI Wasim Bhatti under the supervision of SHO Channi Himmat Inspector Deepak Pathania arrested the accused identified as Zafar of Channi Rama, near Armed Police Complex, Jammu.
The police official further said that during interrogation, the accused claimed that he, along with another individual, would act as Khilafwarzi Inspector to extort money from locals of Sainik Colony area for letting the constructions in the area go.
Accordingly, he said, a case FIR number 143/2025 under Sections 319(2)/3(5) of the BNS was lodged against the accused person at Police Station Channi Himmat and further investigation taken up to arrest the other individuals in the case.
