RAMBAN, Oct 20: Police arrested a man for trying to smuggle liquor to earn illegitimate profits, here today.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Ramban police station laid a naka near Cafeteria Morh and intercepted a person on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 38 pouches of illicit liquor from his possession and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Sindoor Singh, son of Soba Ram of Kothi Bhathni. He was carrying the consignment of illicit liquor for sale among the masses in his native village for illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR Number 111/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered against the accused at Ramban police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban police station Inspector Vinod Kundal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
