JAMMU, Jan 18: One individual was arrested with 6 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance from Akhnoor area here today.
During routine patrolling and naka checking at Old Bridge, Akhnoor, a two-wheeler (JK02DL-9671) rider coming from Ambaran side towards Akhnoor tried to flee on seeing the police party, a police official said.
He said the alert police party, headed by PSI Zahid Ahmed Ganai, along with other officials immediately swung into action and detained the motorcyclist, identified as Ajay Singh of Ambaran, Akhnoor, for questioning.
On personal search of the biker, he said, 6 grams of heroin (chitta)-like narcotic substance was recovered.
Accordingly, the accused was arrested and booked in case FIR number 12/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation set into motion, he said.
