Man held in gas cylinder theft case

JAMMU, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have solved a theft case with the arrest of a notorious thief involved in stealing gas cylinders and other valuables from various parts of the city.
A police official said acting on the written complaint by one Nishu, a resident of Pamposh Colony in Janipur, who alleged theft at her house, a case FIR Number 88/2025 under Sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station.
Followed by this, he said, an investigating team detained a suspect identified as Ranjeet Singh of New Plot, Janipur, for questioning, who admitted to his involvement in the theft.
Based on his disclosure, five stolen domestic gas cylinders were recovered from his possession, said the police official.
He said the accused was active in Janipur, Bakshi Nagar, Chinore, and nearby areas. He would target locked houses during odd hours and steal gas cylinders along with gold and silver items.
“Further investigation is underway,” added the police official.
