RAMBAN, Oct 18: Police in Ramban district claimed today they have arrested an individual for killing his wife.
A police official said on September 7, 2024, one Silma Devi of Jhatgali, tehsil Rajgarh, reported that her daughter-in-law, Salesha Devi (35) wife of Jeevan Singh, went missing.
Accordingly, he said, a missing report was registered at Police Station Rajgarh under DDR number 14.
Followed by this, he said, SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh, took charge of the case and formed a special police team led by DySP Headquarters Ramban.

According to him, the investigation revealed that on September 4, the day of the incident, Jeevan Singh had taken his wife to Ramban market, where they were seen together.
During questioning, the accused confessed to pushing his wife into the Chenab River near the Chanderkote Footbridge with the intent to kill her, said the police official.
Accordingly, he said, the missing report was converted into an FIR number 256/2024 under section 103 BNS for murder at Police Station Ramban.
The accused is now in the custody of the police and further investigation is underway, added the police official.
