RAJOURI, May 23: In two separate incidents in the Budhal area of Rajouri district, a man died due to drowning while a teenage girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances.
In the first case, a nomadic Bakarwal, Mohammad Yusuf, a resident of Chasana in Reasi district, was washed away while crossing a river in the Bela area of Khawas.
He was on his way to Kii with his goats when he reportedly slipped and drowned. His body was later retrieved by locals and the police. In another incident, the body of a teenage girl was found near the Hayan Bridge in Budhal.
Passersby alerted the police, who reached the spot and took the body into custody. The deceased has been identified as Sonia Akhtar, daughter of Abdul Gafoor, resident of Kewal Budhal.
Police have sent the body for post-mortem and completed necessary legal formalities before handing it over to the family.
Investigations are underway in both cases.
