Man dies of COVID in Jammu, 34 test +ve

80 new cases in Valley, 7 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Aug 11: An old man died of COVID-19 and 34 persons tested positive for the virus in Jammu region while Kashmir division reported 80 fresh cases and the Union Territory of Ladakh recorded seven cases today.
An 80-year-old man with no co-morbidities hailing from village Dershipora in Banihal tehsil of Ramban district succumbed to COVID-19 in the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag 13 days after his admission in the hospital.
This has taken COVID toll in Jammu region to 2154 and Ramban district to 67.
Among 34 new cases reported in the Jammu region today, 13 were recorded in Rajouri district, eight Jammu, six Doda, five Kishtwar and one each in Samba and Udhampur districts.
Reasi, Ramban, Poonch and Kathua districts didn’t report any new cases today.
Forty one COVID patients today recovered from the virus in the Jammu region.
The region now has 1,22,303 Corona cases. Of them, 547 are active positives as 1,19,602 have recovered and there were 2154 fatalities.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported seven new COVID positive cases including six in Leh district and one in Kargil.
This has taken Corona count in Ladakh to 20411 including 74 active positives, 20130 recoveries and 207 deaths—149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 80 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 27 from Srinagar, 11 from Baramulla, 4 from Budgam, 2 from Pulwama, 20 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag, 6 from Bandipora, 4 from Ganderbal and 5 from Kulgam.
As per officials figures, 71,719 positive cases including 834 deaths and 70,576 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,736 including 282 deaths and 23,366 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,984 including 22,705 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Budgam, 15,240 including 14,999 recoveries and 194 deaths are from Pulwama, 14,137 including 165 deaths and 13,925 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,346 including 16,117 recoveries and 205 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,531 cases including 9,374 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,989 including 9,842 recoveries and 78 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,312 including 11,163 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,588 including 5,526 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 200,582 including 197,593 recoveries and 2,239 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,297 including 750 from Kashmir division.
With 114 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 317,195, which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.
