JAMMU, Oct 15: A 28-year-old man apparently ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance at Chowki Choura area here today.
Mukesh Kumar son of Ved Prakash of Chowki Choura reportedly consumed some poisonous substance outside his home, a police official said.
On getting information, he was shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) Chowki Choura by a team from Police Post concerned, he said, adding that he was later referred to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
While the body of the deceased individual has been shifted to the mortuary of the hospital for conducting the post-mortem examination, police have initiated inquest proceedings under the relevant sections of the law to ascertain the reasons as to why he took such an extreme step to end his life.
