MENDHAR, Apr 28: The police has registered a case against a villager from Balakote area of Mendhar Sub Division in Poonch for torturing birds.
Official sources said that action was taken by the Sub Divisional Administration after a video went viral on social media, in which one person was shown beating birds with stick (Common Myna), after traping. As the matter came to the notice of SDM Mendhar Sahil Jandyal, he directed the Wild Life department and local police to trace the man and take action against him.
Later, the police managed to identify the person. Identified as Mohd Shakil, resident of Sandote village in Balakote, the police booked him for this kind of unusual criminal act. The man was also seen talking to the bird while beating her with thin stick on its legs. SHO Mendhar, Manzoor Kohli said that a case FIR No. 110/ 2021 has been registered against the accused person. This video has invited condemnations from all around in the area. The people observed that man in video does not seem to be in good state of mental health.
