POONCH, Nov 11: In a firm action against spreading misinformation and attempts to misuse the process of law, the police has booked one person under preventive detention for providing false and fabricated information to the authorities.
The individual identified as Zumurat Hussain (34), son of Jamal Din, resident of Behramgalla, in Tehsil Surankote, had falsely reported that his nephew was in possession of a pistol. Upon thorough verification by the police, the information was found to be completely false, baseless, and misleading.
The conduct of the said person was found to be deliberate and intended to create nuisance, mislead the authorities, and disturb public peace and tranquility in the area. Such acts of spreading false information have the potential to disrupt harmony and waste valuable law enforcement resources.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Zumurat has been booked under preventive provisions of Sections 128/129/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and detained for a period of 15 days by the order of Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Surankote. He has been lodged at District Jail, Poonch.
