JAMMU, Apr 6: Nowabad Police arrested a man in cheating, extortion and Information Technology (IT) Act case here today.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by a girl with Police Station Nowabad stating that a man identified as Rajesh Manhas, son of Hem Raj, a resident of Batote District Ramban befriended with her on social media and later made some objectionable videos of her.
“With the aim to extort money, the man sent the videos to girl’s relatives. The man also threatened to made the videos of the girl viral on social sites, if she and her relatives failed to pay the money”, sources informed while quoting the complainant.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 36/2022 under Sections 420 and 384 IPC and 67 and 67-A IT Act was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Vijay Sharma under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma raided different areas and finally nabbed the accused.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
