JAMMU, Jan 23: Police arrested a man for trying to kill a person over some altercation in Janipur late last night.
As per police sources, Hem Lal, a resident of Chattisgarh and Pankaj Kumar, son of Ram Lal, a resident of near Raghunath Temple had an altercation over some issue late last night in Janipur.
Later, Pankaj Kumar, who works with a hardware shop in Janipur tried to kill Hem Lal by tying rope around his neck.
Some passerby rescued Hem Lal and shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where his condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
After committing the crime, the accused Panjak Kumar escaped from the spot.
On specific information, a team from Janipur police station conducted raids in several areas and finally nabbed the accused.
A case under Section 307 RPC has been registered against him at police station Janipur and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Janipur police station Inspector RS Bhau made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Surinder Choudhary, SP North Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
