Man arrested for abusive remarks against PM’s mother in Bihar, Congress denies links to accused Imran Mojib

PATNA, Aug 29: Bihar Police today arrested a man in Darbhanga for allegedly using abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi s late mother during Rahul Gandhi s Voter Adhikar Yatra, triggering political outrage across the country.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Rizvi, alias Raja, is a resident of Bhopura village in the Singhwada area of Darbhanga.

A video clip of the incident went viral on social media on Wednesday, drawing sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In response, BJP leaders demanded apologies from Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who were leading the yatra. Multiple FIRs were reportedly lodged at various police stations based on the viral footage.

Condemning the use of derogatory language against PM s mother, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated:  The use of indecent language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from Congress and RJD platforms during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga is extremely unbecoming, and I strongly condemn it.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh said the language used was not just indecent but disgraceful.

He said:  Such remarks are the kind of thing only a gang of street thugs would say. Do they want to take Bihar back to the jungle raj days, when insult, rudeness, and anarchy ruled, and linguistic decorum was non-existent

The JD(U) leader also demanded public apologies from Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav for what he called  the disgraceful conduct of their supporters.

However, the Congress denied that the accused was affiliated with it and alleged that the incident was orchestrated by the BJP to divert public attention from the Voter Adhikar Yatra.

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the BJP of fabricating the controversy, saying:  Their toolkit has now been fully exposed. Their agents infiltrate our meetings, raise offensive slogans, and then create a fuss just to divert attention from the real issues.

Khera called for a thorough investigation into the incident:  Find out who the arrested person really is, and who he is working for.  (UNI)
