JAMMU, Feb 7: To create awareness and sense of social service among the youth, Govt MAM College in collaboration with 2nd J&K Boys Batallion and Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu organized a motivational lecture on voluntary blood donation today under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Anita Sudan, while RC Puri, secretary Indian Red Cross Society, JAMMU Region presided over the function.
Adm. Officer, Lt Col, Monisha SRS Officiating Commanding Officer 2nd J&K Boys Battalion also graced the occasion with his presence, while Dr Vijay Sawhney, Prof & Head, Department of Blood Transfusion GMC, Jammu was the resource person.
The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and the other dignitaries.
Earlier, Dr Sangeeta Sudan, NSS PO presented welcome address and gave brief profile of the NCC, NSS and Red Cross Unit of Govt MAM College.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vijay Sawhney said that every drop of blood is precious and goes a long way in saving lives of patients. He advised the NCC Cadets and NCC Volunteers to donate blood and save precious lives.
Dr Anita said that youth of the nation are a force to reckon with and they should set an example before others.
RC Puri narrated a long history of Red Cross Society, helping patients in all types of adverse situations.
Prof Savita Jamwal presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Kiran Raina, Dr SC Sharma, Dr Mazzamal Hussain, Dr Liaqat Jaffari, Dr Rajesh Sharma, Prof Neetu Singh and Prof Sujat Ali Khan.
