JAMMU, Sept 17: Malis and Chowkidars here today staged a protest demonstration demanding salaries.
The protesters said that they have been working as Malis and Chowkidars in Panchayats and also in other offices of the Government for the last 22 years but were not paid even a penny in all these years.
They raised slogans in favour of their demands.
One of the protesters, Shakeel from Rajouri said since the year 2002 they were working as Malis and Chowkidars but so far they have been paid nothing for their hard works.
“If our demand is not conceded and our salaries are not given then we will lock the Panchayat Ghars and sit there with our family members,” he said.
Another protester said that they worked for more than two decades and were paid nothing.
“We give votes to make the Government and still face such an inhuman treatment of working without any salary,” he maintained adding that they will wait till October 10 to see if any development takes place on their demand else they will start an agitation.
The protesters also claimed that they have given their lands for the jobs and still get nothing as salary.
