Major untoward incident averted, four arrested with weapons: SSP

JAMMU, Mar 17: RS Pura and Gandhi Nagar Police averted major untoward incident by arresting four persons with weapons.
Giving details, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli said that several check points were laid by police teams of PS RS Pura constituted under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Surinder Singh.
The team led by SHO PS RS Pura Inspector Jai Pal Sharma during naka checking at Chakrohi naka arrested a man namely Sumit Gondhi alias Kalu, son of Om Parkash Gondhi of Mohalla Peer Mitha Tehsil Jammu along with country made pistol and 2 live rounds.
Similarly at another naka at Baspur, police teams arrested another person namely Pritam Singh alias Sethi, son of Mohan Singh of Jerda Tehsil Ramgarh District Samba along with pistol.
The recoveries were made under the overall supervision of SP Headquarters Ramnish Gupta.
Two cases under FIR Numbers 40/2022 and 42/2022 under Section 3/25 Arms Act were registered at Police Station RS Pura and investigation was set into motion.
SSP Jammu further said that during questioning of the accused namely Sumit Gondhi alias Kalu, he revealed about his other accomplices in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu District.
He further added that on this special police teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma were constituted.
“The team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Pankaj Sharma did strenuous efforts with the help of various inputs and finally arrested the associates of the Sumit Gondhi, who were identified as Vivek Sharma alias Pinu, son of Ram Rattan of Peer Mitha District Jammu and Rocky Kumar alias Billa, son of Ashok Kumar of Gagian Tehsil RS Pura District Jammu. During search, 2 pistols and 13 live rounds were recovered from them”, SSP added.
Recoveries were made under the overall supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma.
A case under FIR Number 62/2022 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar, SSP said, adding that further investigation into the cases is going on and more arrests are likely to be made.
