JAMMU, Apr 21: In a significant breakthrough, Nowabad Police averted a major criminal act by arresting a notorious criminal and his associate near T-Point on the 4th Tawi Bridge.
The police team from Police Station Nowabad, while conducting random vehicle checks last night, intercepted a scooty (JK02CD-9883) heading toward Bhagwati Nagar Chowk. Upon stopping the vehicle, the two riders began behaving suspiciously, prompting a personal search.
The primary accused was identified as Aniket Mottan alias Babblu, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Bahadur Khan, tehsil Bishnah. A pistol along with a live round was recovered from his possession. His associate, Aniket Dutta, son of Sanjay Dutta, resident of Resham Ghar Colony, Bakshi Nagar, was found in possession of a toka—a sharp-edged weapon.
Upon sustained interrogation, the duo confessed their motive: they were en-route to eliminate a known rival due to personal enmity. The prompt and vigilant action of the Nowabad Police foiled the dangerous plan, ensuring public safety in the city area.
The arrest of Aniket Mottan alias Babblu is being seen as a major success for the Jammu Police, as he has been linked to the Greater Kailash dacoity case. Though not directly involved, Babblu had reportedly destroyed vital evidence in the case and was under police watch for a long time.
Following the arrests, an FIR Number 56/2025 has been registered at Police Station Nowabad under Sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act and Section 3(5) of the BNS.
The police operation was spearheaded by Inspector Deepak Pathania (SHO Nowabad), and assisted by PSI Vikram Singh Manhas (IC PP Canal Road), PSI Irshad Ahmad, HC Rajendra Rakwal, HC Jaipal Singh, SPO Nishant Kumar, SPO Navjot Singh and SPO Sohan Lal.
