Maize weakens on sluggish demand

NEW DELHI, Nov 24: Maize prices eased by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale market today due to low demand from consuming industries against sufficient supplies.

However, other grains moved in a narrow range on little doing and settled around previous levels.

Traders said easing demand from consuming industries against adequate stocks position mainly helped maize prices to trade lower.

In the national capital, maize declined by Rs 10 to Rs 1,290-1,295 per quintal.

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,245-2,445, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,625-1,630, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,630-1,635, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 860-880 (50 kg), Maida 920-925 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,050-1,060 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,000-7,600, Rice Pusa (1121) 5,400-6,100, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975, Bajra 1,085-1,090, Jowar yellow 1,300-1,375, white 2,300-2,450, Maize 1,290-1,295, Barley 1,560-1,570.
