JAMMU, June 24: Two prime accused in the recent Gangyal firing incident were arrested after a 17-day-long intensive manhunt, police said today.
Harneet Singh alias “Honey” and Ramandeep Singh alias “Dutta” – both real brothers and residents of Digiana – were apprehended on Monday. The duo had been on the run since they allegedly opened fire on June 6, injuring Paramjeet Singh of Seora village in the right arm.
According to police, extensive efforts were made to trace the accused, including the issuance of hue and cry notices and Look Out Circulars (LOCs), aimed at preventing their escape from the country and facilitating immediate detention.
With these arrests, a total of six persons have been nabbed in connection with the case. Earlier, on June 11, police arrested four others – Surinder Singh and Harjot Singh alias “Anda” from Dashmesh Nagar, Raman Kumar of Gangyal, and Mohd Ashraf of Narwal.
