JAMMU, Oct 28: The activists of Mahila Congress Committee today held strong protest demonstration outside the United Nations Organisation’s (UNO) office here, against the un-provoked firing by Pakistani troops on the Indian civilians in border belt of Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
A large number of Congress activists of the women wing led by Pradesh Mahila Congress president, Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA) reached the office of UNO at Sainik Colony near Kunjwani-Nagrota Bypass Road and started protest demonstration. They were carrying banners and placards in hands projecting their demands.
The Congress women activists were raising loud slogans in support of their demands. They raised slogans against Pakistan and its Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief and Pak Army. They burnt the effigy of Pakistan and its leadership. They also submitted a memorandum to the UN Staff in this regard.
While addressing gathering Indu Pawar expressed serious concern over the loss of life and property in Pakistani firing. She said that due to ceasefire violations, the border villagers have been terrorized and are facing lot of hardships. She alleged that Central Government led by Narendra Modi has failed to tackle the situation and restore normalcy along the border.
The Congress leader said that BJP led Government had assured to rehabilitate border villagers at safer places and also offer 5 marla plots to them but nothing happened. She demanded relief/ compensation to the firing victims.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Santosh Sharma, Prabha Slathia, Suman Choudhary, Vandana, Reeta, Suman Lata, Ashu Mehra, Sunita Rajput, Sushma Choudhary and others.
