JAMMU, Aug 5: The Shri Ranbir Campus of Central Sanskrit University today witnessed a grand celebration on the occasion of Maharaja Ranbir Singh Jayanti, marked by cultural pride, traditional fervour and academic reverence.
The event paid homage to the visionary Maharaja Ranbir Singh for his invaluable contributions to Sanskrit education, Indian knowledge systems, and the cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir.
The program was graced by esteemed dignitaries and scholars. Padma Shri Professor Vishwamurti Shastri was the chief guest while Professor Ramdas Sangotra, a former teacher at the University, Dr Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor of History at Cluster University of Jammu, were the guests of honour. The event was presided over by the Campus Director, Professor Shreedhar Mishra. The event’s coordinator was Professor Satish Kumar Kapoor, Head of the Department of Sahitya and Associate Director of the Campus.
The proceedings began with an auspicious Vedic Mangalacharan recited by Dr Anaymany Tripathi of the Department of Veda, followed by a Laukik Mangalacharan presented by a student. Welcome address in Dogri was delivered by Dr Kamal Kishore, Assistant Professor of Dogri. The event was skillfully anchored by Dr Hari Shankar Pandey, Assistant Professor of Vyakarana. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shikshaacharya Dr M K Jha.
The occasion was further dignified by the presence of several notable invitees including Rajbir Singh, Sarpanch of the Bhalwal area, Dr Purushottam Sharma, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit at MAM College and an alumnus of the university, and a number of Bhagavata Acharyas. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the campus also joined in large numbers.
In cultural segment of the event, a mesmerizing Dogri song performance by student Akash captivated the audience. Classical dance performances, including Bharatnatyam, added further colour and grace to the celebration.
A notable highlight of the event was the traditional Dogri Dham, a ceremonial local feast arranged by the campus administration.
