JAMMU, Sept 1: Mahant Rohit Shastri, president of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Raipur (Thather), has urged the Jammu administration to expedite the reconstruction of the bridge leading to the revered Baba Bhaid Devta shrine in Nagrota constituency.
In a letter addressed to Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, Shastri highlighted that the bridge was recently washed away, leaving it completely damaged and inaccessible. The collapse has disrupted the movement of thousands of devotees who throng the shrine every year to perform tonsure ceremonies, worship and other rituals.
Baba Bhaid Devta is regarded as the Kul Devta (family deity) by several communities, and the damaged link has not only hampered religious traditions but also affected the daily life of the local population.
Urging immediate administrative intervention, Shastri said timely reconstruction of the bridge is vital to restore smooth access and preserve the continuity of the region’s cultural and spiritual practices.
