JAMMU, May 21: Mahant Rohit Shastri, President, Shri Kailakh Jyotish evam Vedic Sansthan Trust demanded for the up gradation of Government High School, at Raipur up to 12th Grade.
In this regard, Shastri called on Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) here today.
He also submitted a memorandum, urging the Government to upgrade Government High School to Higher Secondary School.
The Government High School in Raipur village in the Jammu North Assembly Segment is currently offering education up to the 10th grade.
Established around 1971, the school is one of the prestigious schools in the area. Initially, the school provided education up to the 8th grade and was later upgraded to the 10th grade by the Government.
The School caters to the area comprising of several villages such as Keran, Upper Thathar, Lower Thathar, Raipur, Kheri, Bagani, Sang Talab, Naradani, Bajua, Jwala, Batani, Kot, Kangar, and others.
In the absence of a higher secondary school, the students aspiring for further studies have to face many challenges, especially financial challenges.
In view of all this, a higher secondary school is one of the most prominent needs of the students residing in the area.
It is pertinent to mention that the building of Raipur Government High School and the number of the enrolled students meet the criteria for a higher secondary school.
Therefore, considering the interests of the students, especially the girls, of the Raipur region, Shastri through the memorandum urged the Government to kindly upgrade the said school.
While receiving the memorandum, Commission Secretary, Sanjeev Verma, gave a patient hearing to Mahant Rohit Shastri, and assured to take a sympathetic view of the demand raised in the memorandum.
