Maha CM unveiles grand 21-ft-tall equestrian statue of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar in Sangli

SANGLI, Dec 15 : Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar established a state of bravery, piety, administration, equality and justice to revive Indian culture, said Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis here today.
Speaking after unveiling a grand 21-foot-tall equestrian statue of Punyashlok Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar at Shinde Mala, Abhaynagar here this afternoon to commemorate her tricentenary, he said that it is a matter of pride for people of the state that Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar was born at Chaundi in Ahilyanagar district.
Maharashtra is her birthplace and Madhya Pradesh is her workplace, he informed and said she played an important role in expanding the Maratha Empire.
He recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had specifically mentioned Ahilya Devi’s work of saving temples in India during the restoration of Kashi Vishweshwar Ghat and the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Fadnavis congratulated the Municipal Corporation administration and local public representatives for erecting the largest statue of Ahilyadevi in the state on behalf of the Municipal Corporation in Sangli.
On this occasion, he was felicitated with a shawl and a saddle, as well as a sculpture of Ahilya Devi.
