UDHAMPUR, Sept 6: Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra along with party activists made an extensive tour of several villages of Rathian, Madaal and Badali Panchayats and took stock of the problems being faced by the inhabitants.
During the visit, people of these villages disclosed that they are facing problems like irregular supply of drinking water, heavy curtailment of electricity and worst condition of roads, drains and lanes in their respective areas and during rains it is difficult for pedestrians to walk on the road.
People of Rathian West disclosed that the PHE Department is supplying drinking water once in a fortnight and they brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities of PHE department but they did not take the problem seriously. They also informed the Congress leader that the condition of natural water source ‘Bowli’ is also bad and needs repair.
Sumeet Magotra said it is unfortunate that people of these Panchayats are facing basic problems of water, power and lands & drains though these areas are hardly three kilometres away from Udhampur Town.
Magotra immediately contacted the authorities of PHE and Electrical department telephonically and highlighted the problems of the people for appropriate action. People of the area said that if their problems are not solved at the earliest, they will start an agitation against the Government.
