SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir today declared Moulana Azad Road and Residency Road as ‘No e-Rickshaw Zones’ to ease congestion in the city’s commercial hub.
In an order issued by the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, the restrictions come into immediate effect and follow a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) held on 13 November 2025.
The ban applies to the stretch of Moulana Azad Road from Jehangir Chowk to the J&K Bank headquarters and on Residency Road from Hari Singh High Street to the J&K Bank headquarters.
The order states that the measure is intended to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the high-density corridor, where frequent e-rickshaw stoppages and slow movement have been causing disruptions.
The RTO cautioned that any violation will invite strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the rules framed under it.
