Luthra highlights need for greater political representation of women

JAMMU, June 30: State vice president NC Women Wing, Bimla Luthra here today underscored the crucial role of women in the upcoming Panchayat and Local Bodies elections in J&K.
Addressing a meeting in Vijaypur she highlighted the need for greater political representation of women in J&K.
She also listened to the public issues like widow pension and old age pension and assured that the concerns would be addressed on priority.
Bimla Luthra said, although women constitute nearly 50 per cent of the voting populace in J&K, their representation in governance continues to be neglected. She strongly criticized the previous Government and accusing it of failing to deliver on promises.
The NC leader lamented lack of employment opportunities, healthcare facilities and women-centric policies, which have left the women struggling with unaddressed issues.
The meeting was attended by Rajni Devi, working president NC Women Wing Jammu, Joginder Kaur district vice president Jammu Urban Women Wing, Sapna Gill, Block president Jammu Urban Women Wing, Baljeet Kour, Gurmeet Kour, Madhu, Lalita and others.
