‘Representatives should properly present issues before Govt’

JAMMU, Mar 26: As the election bugle for Lok Sabha polls has blown, the public at large has expressed wish that their elected representative is required to be courageous enough to present their problems and issues before the upcoming new Union Government in an effective manner so that some solution could be reached and the ongoing positive developments in the country should continue to take the nation to newer heights with modernization of the entire system of the Government to make it corruption free and more schemes are required to be started for the welfare of common people, industrialists, farmers, unemployed youth and others.
“We wish the ‘to be elected new Union Government’ to work more to solve common public problems,” said J.S Baloria, 78, a retired Army officer from Sainik Colony area adding: “Presently unemployment is a big problem and the unemployed youth can be easily pushed to anti-social activities and other crimes.”
He further said that the new regime is required to be strict enough against corruption and is expected to make policies and laws to eradicate the menace of corruption.
“Everyone should work in that direction so that corruption free India would become a reality,” Baloria continued.
Priya Jain, 24, a young entrepreneur from Jammu said there have been a lot of positive developments recently in Jammu and it has now become a smart city in which travel has been made very easy with the advent of emission free e-buses.
She further said: “The upcoming Union Government should encourage the start-ups as it is going on presently with many exhibitions being organized for the promotion of start-ups and the same should continue to ensure that all should become Atam Nirbhar (self-sustaining).”
“Though development in the last 10 years in our country were remarkable but more needs to be done to see our nation attaining the status of Vishav Guru (mentor of the world),” Ganesh Kumar Sharma, 67, a Sculptor from Hiranagar viewed adding: “The art and culture should be promoted as it is the base of everything and only the rich art and culture which we possess can take our country to the fame of Vishav Guru.”
He also said that the representative which the public will elect should think for all giving priority to the common man and is expected to highlight local issues before the upcoming Union Government for reaching solutions.
“The upcoming Government should care more for the common public and should ensure more developments in the country,” Sharma said.
“Though there are lot of schemes for the industrial sector but the upcoming new Government is expected to make these schemes easily available even to the small scale industries,” said Deepak Gujaral, 37, an industrialist from Jammu.
He informed that though there are many incentives for the industrial sector but still small scale industries mostly get nothing from these due to irrelevant formalities and complicated norms required to be fulfilled for these.
Gujaral said that the representative which our public will elect is expected to recognize the problems of industrial sector and should present the same before New Delhi so that some solution can be reached.
“There are interest subsidies, turn over subsidy and many more but small units rarely fulfill the required norms for these, so the procedure should be made simple so that even small scale industrialist can take benefit of the schemes and subsidies,” he continued.
A farmer Abdul Khalid, 45, from a small hamlet in Kalakote area of border district Rajouri said that farmers face a lot of problems and in his area good crop is only possible after timely and good rainfall else they suffer losses.
“I will study the contesting candidates properly and will vote only to the one who will take our problems to the Union Government for a proper solution so that life of a farmer may become easy,” he said.
Apart from this most of the people contacted for comments stated that they will vote for an educated candidate and will also keep in mind his/her past record.
“We will only consider the candidate who possesses administrative know how and will be easily accessible and we will never give a chance to the one who has broken poll promises in the past,” they further maintained.
