JAMMU, Sept 25: A State level meeting of the All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Federation, chaired by Ishar Dass Sangra, today reiterated a series of long-pending demands concerning employees and pensioners, urging the Government for their immediate redressal.
Prominent leaders of the Federation highlighted major issues, including inadequate medical allowance, delay in constitution of the 8th Pay Commission, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and regularization of daily wagers. They said that despite the extension of Central laws to J&K after reorganization, medical allowance continues to remain below the Central Government norm of Rs 1000 per month, which they termed discriminatory.
The Federation also stressed early constitution of the 8th Pay Commission, due from January 2026, and sought immediate restoration of the Old Pension Scheme to secure employees’ post-retirement lives. They further demanded regularization of more than one lakh daily-rated workers who have been serving for decades without job security.
Other demands raised include review of the order on in-service teachers’ tests, which they termed unjustified, enhancement of honorarium for Village Guards, Mid-Day Meal Cooks, Anganwadi and ASHA Workers to at least Rs 20,000 per month, and regular holding of Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings twice a year to avoid stagnation in services.
The meeting underlined that these were genuine and pending issues requiring urgent Government intervention to boost employees’ morale and efficiency. Leaders resolved to continue their struggle in a peaceful and democratic manner until the demands are met.
