NEW DELHI, Apr 10 : President Droupadi Murmu on Friday condoled the loss of lives in Mathura boat accident and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.
A boat carrying tourists, primarily from Punjab, capsized in Yamuna river in Vrindavan (under Mathura district) on Friday afternoon, leaving at least 10 people dead and several others missing, officials said.
The accident occurred near Kesi Ghat when the boat carrying over two dozen tourists moved into deeper waters and hit a floating pontoon, they said.
“The news of the deaths of several people in a boat accident in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, is extremely sad. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured,” Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi. (PTI)
