Lok Adalats held at Jammu, Rajouri, Bhaderwah

JAMMU, Feb 5: Lok Adalats were held at Jammu, Rajouri and Bhaderwah.
JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jammu held a Permanent Lok Adalat in the premises of District Court Complex, Janipur, to deal with the cases under Motor Vehicle Act, pending before the Motor Accidental Claim Tribunal, Jammu. The Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Jammu.
A bench comprising Principal District and Sessions Judge Jammu, Sanjeev Gupta, and Presiding Officer, MACT Jammu RS Jasrotia, took up 116 cases for settlements after holding Pre Lok Adalat Sessions for five days commencing from January 29, 2021 to February 4, 2021, in the court of Principal District and Session Judge, Jammu. The bench disposed of 46 cases. An amount of Rs 2,69,14,000 was awarded as compensation to the victims.
RAJOURI: A Lok Adalat pertaining to Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases was held at District Court Complex Rajouri under the chairmanship of Jaffer Hussain Beg Principal District and Sessions Judge, Rajouri.
During the Lok Adalat, a bench was constituted which was headed by Om Parkash Thakur Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rajouri and assisted by Raj Kumar Special Mobile Magistrate/Sub-Judge, Rajouri.
Lawyers, litigants/alleged victims and insurance companies had actively participated in the adalat.
A total of 27 MACT cases were taken up and all were amicably settled by way of mediation and reconciliation. An amount of Rs 90,05,000 was awarded as compensation.
BHADERWAH: A permanent Lok Adalat held virtually at the District Court Complex, Bhaderwah settled 223 cases, besides an amount of Rs 70,03,000 was settled and Rs 5,300 was also recovered as fine. The Lok Adalat was held under the guidance of the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Bhaderwah, Ashok Kumar Shavan and Member Secretary DLSA Bhaderwah Susheel Singh. In the Lok Adalat, eight benches were constituted in different parts of Doda district.
