KATRA, Apr 5: Up in arms against alleged overcharging by the Toll Plaza authorities, some locals and members of Tipper Union Katra held a strong protest demonstration at Ban, here today.
The protesting people raised slogans against the National Highway Authority of India and demanded stern action the concerned authorities who were overcharging from the vehicles crossing Toll Plaza. They also demanded a uniform system for charging toll from the different vehicles.
The protesting people, who were joined by some Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims, also staged a peaceful dharna bud did not disrupt normal functioning of the Toll Plaza.
While addressing the protesters, president of the Tipper Union, Girdhari Lal warned that they would further intensify their protest if a uniform system is not adopted by the authorities for charging toll.
Later, the protesters dispersed off peacefully.
