UDHAMPUR, Jan 14: Locals have demanded restoration of the Gangera Hill Park in Udhampur, which is crying for attention due to its poor maintenance and deteriorating condition.
Gangera Hill Park is a popular tourist destination in Udhampur district. However, despite its potential to attract visitors and boost local economy, the park has been neglected, leaving it in a state of dispair.
The park’s infrastructure, including walking trails, benches, and lighting, is in a poor state, making it difficult for visitors to navigate and enjoy the surroundings. Insufficient amenities like drinking water, toilets, and food stalls are scarce, leaving visitors with limited options.
Further, the park’s natural beauty is being marred by litter, plastic waste, and unchecked vegetation growth, which is not only harming the environment but also deterring visitors.
The park’s poor condition has also raised safety concerns, with visitors vulnerable to accidents and injuries due to the lack of proper infrastructure and maintenance.
Raghuvir Gandotra, Som Raj Atri and other local residents of Udhampur have urged the authorities to take immediate action to restore the park to its former glory, highlighting its potential to boost local tourism and economy.
We request the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department to intervene and develop a plan to revitalize the park, including upgrading infrastructure, providing amenities, and ensuring regular maintenance,” they said.
