UDHAMPUR, Aug 2: Despite loss of precious lives in flash floods, the district administration and PMGSY Department have failed to construct a concrete bridge over Dhudar Nallah at village Dhanoo, which connect Jib Thathi road with Katra in Udhampur.
Irked over the insensitive attitude of the administration, locals of the village held a protest amidst rising slogans against the Udhampur district administration and PMGSY. They demanded construction of concrete bridge over Dhudar Nallah.
Some time back, construction work was started by PMGSY Department on both ends of the old iron bridge construction by PWD Department, which had damaged due to passing of heavy machinery on it.
The contractor not only damaged the old iron bridge but also stopped working on the new one thus forcing the people to cross the Nallah water and thus risking their lives for reaching destinations. Thousands of locals in the villages adjoining Nallah, which Dhanoo, Seen Brahamana, Sundrani, Muttal, Samole and Jangal Gali etc, cross the Nallah water in absence of bridge.
According to prominent locals, , namely former Additional Advocate General High Court, Rakesh Khajuria, Asha Nand Khajuria, Lekh Raj, Vinod Dubey, Lal Chand Verma, Ex Panch Sushma Devi, Somansh Khajuria, Chain Singh and Mohit Sharma, construction of bridge over Dhudar Nallha was the responsibility of district administration and PMGSY but they failed to do the needful for the people. Several complaints in this regard were lodged with the concerned department, which always turned deaf ears to the pleas, they added.
