RAJOURI, Nov 13: In a remarkable display of community spirit and frustration over administrative inaction, residents of Upper Alal village in Thannamandi have begun self-construction work on the Upper Alal road, which has remained closed for nearly four months due to sinking a portion of road and official negligence.
According to locals, the road serves as a vital link for several nearby hamlets, and its prolonged closure has caused immense hardships to the people, especially students, patients, and daily commuters. They expressed deep concern over the indifference of the concerned department, stating that repeated appeals and requests for repair work went unanswered.
“The road is our lifeline. Patients and students have suffered the most, and with no response from the authorities, we had no option left but to start the work ourselves,” said Shoket Hussain a local resident.
