JAMMU, July 18: A load carrier driver was assaulted and looted by unidentified persons on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Sidhra area here.
On the intervening night of Thursday-Friday, driver of a Mahindra Pickup, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed son of Fatah Mohammad of Mahore, was chased by some 2-3 individuals on the National Highway, a police official said.
At Sidhra area, he said, the masked assailants forcibly entered his vehicle by breaking the windowpanes to assault the driver in order to loot some cash kept inside.
On the complaint of the victim, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu has started further investigation into the matter.
At the time of filing of this report, police had not registered an FIR into the matter.
